Traffic lane closures in Lumberton

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will conduct crash reconstructions causing multiple lane closures in the city of Lumberton until about 2 p.m. on Feb. 3, the agency reports. The schedule for the crash reconstructions includes Highway 96 at Boardwalk  beginning at 9 a.m.

A 26-year-old Port Arthur resident was found converting powder cocaine into crack when a PA SWAT team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1600 block of 19th street just after 1 p.m. Jan. 31, according to a news release.

Fourth arrest made in connection to Beaumont kidnapping

A fourth person of interest has been arrested in connection to the night four suspects bound and tortured a 17-year-old in a Beaumont hotel on Interstate 10. Thanks to a collaborative effort between BPD the Hardin County Sheriff’s deputies, Joshua Allen Sees, 22, was arrested Saturday, Feb.

PAPD data shows a drop in several crime areas

Port Arthur experienced a dramatic decline in several major crime categories from 2018 to 2019, according to data released by the Port Arthur Police Department. The release shows a drop in the rates of murder, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, theft and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Bathroom graffiti threatens shooting at Vidor High

Vidor High School administration discovered threatening graffiti in a school restroom Tuesday Jan. 28, warning of a school shooting at VHS Jan. 30.  VISD police began investigating the situation immediately, according to the district, and they don’t believe the threat is credible.
