Teen indicted for murder

The Jefferson County grand jury has indicted 15-year-old Mahlek Joseph Barry for murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. . He is accused in the June 1 shooting death of 25-year-old Nastazia Corbin at the Virginia Flats Apartments in the 2200 block of Virginia.

Three arrested following search warrant

On Sept 10, Beaumont police, along with the Southeast Texas Narcotics Task Force, executed a search warrant in 500 block of Nolan following suspected drug trafficking at the residence.

Two facing theft of generator charges

On Friday, Sept 11, a generator was stolen from a trailer at 1701 Barbecue, located at 1701 Calder in Beaumont.

Flock credited for recovering stolen property

Sept. 5, at 12:49 a.m., Beaumont Police Department (BPD) officers responded to a construction site in the 5700 block of Holiday Square after receiving a report of suspicious activity involving a pickup truck and trailer.Officers determined that a Kubota skid-steer had been stolen from the property.

Texas AG opens investigation over denied health claims

Sept. 1, Attorney General Ken Paxton announced an investigation into TRICARE Insurance’s TriWest Healthcare Alliance Corp. (“TriWest”) over the company’s conduct in its insurance policies. This investigation stems from reports and admission that the company wrongfully denied health care claims.

BPD investigating shooting

A woman is listed in stable condition following an early Thursday morning shooting in Beaumont. At 12:20 am police were called to the 5600 block of N. Briarbend Loop in reference multiple shoots being fired. Upon arrival, officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound.

New Mexico murder suspect arrested in Beaumont

A pedestrian stop by Beaumont police Monday morning, Sept 7,  in the 5100 block of Bigner Road led to the arrest of a murder suspect. During the investigation, it was learned 24-year-old Jacobie Aldolph has an active arrest warrant in New Mexico.

Update: Shooting near Lamar campus

Saturday night, Sept 5, around 11:45, Beaumont police responded to a shooting at Dorthy's Bar & Grill in the 4600 block of Rolfe Christoper Drive, which is located across the street from Lamar University's main campus.

Shooting across from Lamar

Few details have been released from an early Sunday morning shooting across the street from Lamar University in Beaumont. It happened just past 1:00 at Dorthy's Bar & Grill, formerly known as Kampus Korner. Yellow crime tape was put up in front of the building. No word on injuries or an arrest.

Drug trafficker sentenced to federal prison

A Beaumont man has been sentenced to a decade in prison. 50-year-old Joskin Love was arrested on March 19, 2025 following a traffic stop. Officers detected the odor of marijuana during the stop. A search of the vehicle resulted the discovery of methamphetamine and fentanyl-laced pills.
