Cyclist struck and killed on College Street

A 36-year-old Beaumont resident was pronounced dead after being struck by a car in the early hours of Feb. 14.

A 36-year-old cyclist was struck and killed by a car in the 2500 block of College Street around 2 a.m. Feb. 14, according to a news release. 

The victim, identified as Jerry Lynn Brachett, was struck from behind by a Hyundai Accent traveling the same direction. A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy was in the area at the time and attempted life-saving efforts, but Brachett was pronounced dead at the scene. 

This investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.
