Two Ville Platte residents are behind bars in Orange County after spending a night in rural Vidor following a chase. The Vidor Police Department Dispatch Center received information Saturday, Feb. 15, that the Orange County Sheriff's Office was in pursuit of a stolen vehicle heading east on Interstate 10. The vehicle exited the interstate and the pursuit was terminated when the suspect vehicle turned onto Stanley from FM 1132. Stanley is a dead-end roadway.

The two occupants of the vehicle fled into the nearby woods. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate them. Neighbors in the outlying area were informed of the situation.

The next morning, Feb. 16, at about 7:15 a.m., officers received a call of two individuals asking for directions to Beaumont. Upon officers convergence upon the area, the suspects attempted to flee. One suspect, Dylan Williams, 20, of Ville Platte, was taken into custody after a short food pursuit. A pistol was found on Williams, according to the Vidor Police Department. Officers continued the search for the second subject.

An hour later, just after 8 a.m., a citizen flagged down an officer about an individual that came out of the woods and ran back into the woods, which the citizens reported seemed suspicious. Officers located the individual hiding in the brush. As officers approached, the man began running from officers. He was located hiding under a trailer home on Craig Street with the help of a Beaumont K-9. The second suspect was identified as Javis Gallow, 28, also of Villa Platte. Gallow was taken into custody.

"The Vidor Police Department would like to thank the citizens for their assistance as well as Orange County Sheriff's Office, Texas DPS and Beaumont Police Department for their teamwork in apprehending these suspects," wrote Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll.

As of publication, the case was still under investigation by the Ville Platte Police Department. Williams and Gallow were charged with evading arrest by the Vidor Police Department. Ville Platte Police Department obtained a warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. There is currently a robbery and kidnapping incident under investigation involving the vehicle by the Ville Platte Police Department.
