10-ton weights crash into SUV

April 17, Beaumont Police Department officers responded at 8:08 a.m. to Walden Road and Fannett Road for a traffic incident.A Toyota SUV was stopped at the intersection waiting to turn when a semitruck carrying two 10-ton weights lost its load, causing the weights to strike the rear of the SUV.

Fire claims life of Vidor man

A Vidor man was killed in a residential fire in the 200 block of Filmore Street on April 20.The Vidor Police Department was called to the scene at about 12:33 a.m. and officers found the home heavily engulfed in flames.

Bicyclist killed in Port Arthur

A man was killed after the bicycle he was riding was struck by a vehicle April 16, the Port Arthur Police Department reported.The incident occurred at about 10 p.m. on Savannah Avenue near 25th Street. The driver stopped after the crash, and the roadway was closed for several hours.
