The Jasper County Sheriff's Office says Tuesday's, Sept 22, forest fire is 100% controlled. The circumstances surrounding the fire at the Hog Creek Hunting Club near County Road 08/River Ridge Road are being investigated. The nearly 94-acre blaze claimed the life of 52-year-old Jeffrey Charles Roberts. The Texas A&M Forest Service, assisted by multiple area fire departments, battled the blaze for more than a day before getting it under control. Five structures were destroyed, while, 12 were saved.
