ABC (Associated Builde & Contractors) of Southeast Texas hosted "Build your Future" event for high school students demonstrating multiple fields in their industry on Sept 23. Shandi Conner, President & CEO of the ABC Construction Training Center, says several industry partners came to the event at Doggett Park to support area junior and senior that are in the high school program.
"We provide training and curriculum and certification to these high schools. So, upon graduation they already have their Level 1 and Level 2 certifications, that are good across the country in industry" Cooper added.
Jane Gimler, President & CEO of Associated Builder & Contractors of Southeast Texas Chapter, tells The Examiner "It is great to see the kids do interaction with all the materials and tools with a goal of bringing the kids into the workforce and to everyday life with Southeast Texas being an industry area"
The students were able interact by jumping on scaffolding, work with tools, and meet with contractors. American Builder & Contractors is a membership driven association that supports merit shop philosophy that believes everybody has the right bid on any job without being affiliated or paying any dues. ABC supports its members through networking events, through lunch and learn, and other member events.
