Pastor arrested accused of assaulting wife

On Wednesday, Aug 25 at 8:45pm, a Jasper County deputy sheriff was called to the Sub-Courthouse in Evadale where he met with a woman who told him she had been assaulted by her husband, 58-year-old Billy Anders, at their Buna residence.

Shooting in Beaumont

Beaumont police are investigating a Thursday morning shooting in the1400 block of Magnolia, near I-10. Police say the male victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition. When The Examiner arrived, multiple police uniits had the street blocked as detectives were working at the scene.

Smith appears in Federal Court

A shackled 30-year-old Christopher Joseph Houston Smith, of Nederland, made his initial appearance in federal court Tuesday, appearing in front of U.S. Magistrate  Christine L Stetson at the Jack Brooks Federal Courthouse in Beaumont.

Contractor facing multiple charges

A Beaumont contractor has been arrested and is facing charges of theft of service and misappropriation of construction trust funds. 45-year-old Derick Alan Leger, with Proper Remodels Construction, was taken into custody on June 22 in Jefferson County.

Two county pursuit ends with crash

A pursuit that started in Chambers County Monday ended with a crash in Beaumont. The Chambers County Sheriff's Office received a call about an erratic driver on I-10. When a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop, the driver sped off and entered Jefferson County. Speeds exceeded 100 mph.

Charles sentened to 55 years

  Brandon Charles Jr. was found guilty of murder Aug. 21 by a jury in Jefferson County Criminal District Court under presiding Judge John Stevens, and the sentencing phase in the trial began and ended Aug. 24.

Beaumont man charged with attempted kidnapping

A Beaumont man is in the Jefferson County Jail charged with attempted kidnapping. Deputy Donta' Miller confirms 40-year-old Shannon Richard attempted to abduct a jogger Sunday afternoon on Brooks Road. Richard pulled up beside the jogger asking her is she needed help.

Beaumont PD seeking information for June murder

Beaumont police detectives are asking for assistance in a June murder. The body of 64-year-old Sinclair Collins was found on June 16 in the 2900 block of Astor. He had died from gunshot wounds. Detectives are asking for the public's help.

Jasper County man jailed on parole violation

A weekend traffic stop ended Saturday with a man wanted on a parole violation going to jail. A Jasper County deputy pulled over 33-year-old Trent Stark, of Bleakwood, on North Margaret in Kirbyville for operating a motorcycle without a license plate.

Auto/Pedestrian Fatality In Orange County

The DPS reports a 59-year-old Vidor man died Friday night after he was struck by a vehicle in Orange County. The victim stepped in front of a Jeep that was traveling north on FM 105, near Sunnydale Road north of Vidor. He died at the scene. DPS Sgt.
