Man arrested for stealing tires at Beaumont store

A Vidor man was arrested for stealing tires from a local business on Jan. 26, according to a press release by the Beaumont Police Department (BPD). BPD reported that, at 10:36 a.m. on Jan. 26, officers responded to Discount Tire on Stagg Drive in reference to a theft in progress.

Beginning Monday, Feb. 6, the Jefferson County District Clerk’s office will begin processing passports by appointment only from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Also, as of Jan. 23, the 2-day delivery fee to send passports has increased from $18.32 to $19.53.

Taxes past due

Jefferson County property taxes still not paid in full are now accruing penalties, according to Tax Assessor-Collector Allison Nathan Getz. Property taxes were due in full on Jan. 31, Getz explained. Beginning Feb. 1, penalty and interest is applied to unpaid tax balances.

Local man indicted in undercover sting

A Jefferson County grand jury indicted a Beaumont man on Jan. 18 for solicitation of prostitution, a state jail felony. Christopher Dontae Moore, 27, of Beaumont, was arrested Oct.

Man indicted for shooting girlfriend

A Port Arthur man, who allegedly shot his girlfriend, was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury for aggravated assault on Jan. 18. Mark Allen Davis, 20, was arrested Dec. 13 for the first-degree felony. He remains in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility under a $500,000 bond.

Man indicted for child sex crimes

A Jefferson County grand jury indicted a Beaumont man on child sex charges on Dec. 18. Dalton Darrow Kirk, 24, was indicted for aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony, and indecency with a child, a second-degree felony. According to the probable cause affidavit, on Sept.
