A Jefferson County grand jury indicted a Beaumont man on child sex charges on Dec. 18. Dalton Darrow Kirk, 24, was indicted for aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony, and indecency with a child, a second-degree felony.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on Sept. 15, 2019, a woman reported sexual abuse claims by her daughter to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office. The girl stated a cousin made sexual contact twice with her on two separate occasions, 4 or 5 years prior. The sexual assaults happened on Nov. 19 and Nov. 29, 2015, the victim told investigators.
Kirk told the girl to “not to tell anyone,” according to the charging instrument.
The victim was interviewed at the Garth House by a forensic interviewer.
