A man shot during his crime is heading to federal prison for 33 months. In August of 2025, 29-year-old Martinez Lamond Baltrip, of Beaumont, pulled a 9mm pistol and fired shots and a man that was working on his car near Avenues G and H in Beaumont. The other person pulled a shotgun and shot Baltrip, who returned to his car and called police. Police found 9mm shell casings on the scene that were fired from Baltrip's gun. Baltrip is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm. He pleaded guilty earlier this year and was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Court Judge Marcia A Crone.
