On Aug 14 and Aug 15 the Southeast Texas Violent Crime Task Force conducted a directed crime suppression operation in the 6200 block of Phelan Boulevard in Beaumont. The operation focused on maintaining a visible law enforcement in the area. The combined results included 21 traffic/pedestrian contacts, six arrests for unlawful carrying a weapon, outstanding warrants, criminal tresspass evading, and public intoxication. Two handguns were also seized. The task force also assisted Beaumont PD with the homicide investigation that occurred Saturday night that led to the location and arrest of 25-yer-old Donta Lawrence, who is charged with murder in the Satruday. Aug 15 shooting death of 43-year-old Kenly Faulk in the 3900 block of Broadmoor in Beaumont. Beaumont Police Sgt. Haley Morrow tells The Examiner "These directed operations about being productive and having visible presence in areas where we know problems can arise. Over the course of the weekend, Task Force officers were able to remove firearms from the streets and, just as importantly, quickly shift resources to assist BPD with the homicide investigation. That collaboration and flexibility is exactly what the Southeast Texas Violent Crime task Force is designed to do." The Southeast Texas Violent Criminal Task Fore witll continue working collaboratively to conduct proactive enforcement operations aimed at reducing crime.
