May 28, Taylor Dixon McCord, 64, pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child younger than 10 and was sentenced to 30 years in prison, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Because the victim is younger than 10, McCord is not eligible for parole.
On Feb. 22, the victim’s mother contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to report she had walked in on McCord assaulting her child.
When interviewed, McCord admitted assaulting the child and was taken into custody.
Also on May 28, James Emil Williams Jr., 25, was sentenced to 45 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder in Orange County’s 128th District Court in connection with the shooting death of Charles Declouet, 62.
According to the Orange Police Department, officers responded to a home on 6th Street on May 26, 2025, for a reported shooting and found Declouet suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He later died at a local hospital.
Investigators determined the shooting was likely a drive-by attack. Detectives used surveillance video to identify the vehicle involved, leading them to Williams and another individual whose name has not been released publicly. Both suspects were later indicted and arrested.
