May 20, Beaumont Police Department (BPD) officers responded to Oyo Hotel, 2660 Interstate 10 East, in reference to subjects in a vehicle trespassing on the property. The call escalated when officers attempted to make contact with a suspect vehicle and the driver fled the parking lot at a high rate of speed, nearly hitting the responding officer, BPD reported.
“Officers and RTCC were able to give a license plate and description of the suspect vehicle and it was located in the area of the 6700 block of Bigner Road a short time later,” BPD advised. “As officers again attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, the driver fled, continuing to evade from officers until losing control into a ditch in the 4000 block of Roland Road.”
The driver, identified as 24-year-old La’Asia Clemons, and front seat passenger, 20-year-old Katrina Harmon, allegedly both exited the vehicle and began to evade on foot.
“Officers were able to apprehend both subjects quickly and they were taken into custody without incident,” according to BPD.
Clemons was placed under arrest for aggravated assault on a public servant, evading in a motor vehicle, and theft. Harmon was placed under arrest for evading on foot.
