March 26, a male suspect was arrested during a traffic accident investigation near State Highway 105 and Major Drive.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported deputies were assisting the Beaumont Police Department with the accident investigation and identified Jaylen Malone, 20, as the sole occupant of the vehicle. While attempting to have Malone exit the vehicle, deputies reportedly observed the suspect trying to conceal a firearm. When deputies attempted to detain him, Malone allegedly then resisted arrest and spat on one of the deputies. The firearm was secured, and Malone was taken into custody.
Malone was charged with harassment of a public servant, unlawful carrying of a weapon, and resisting arrest.
