A male suspect wanted in connection with the violent assault of a man was taken into custody during the early morning hours of Jan. 22.
Fredo Wayne Lassain-Gatlin, 30, was booked into the Jefferson County Correctional Facility at 2:20 a.m. for aggravated assault, according to jail records.
Jan. 17, officers were dispatched to Jazz and Jokes, 695 Orleans St, in reference to an assault in progress. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, lying on the bathroom floor with a significant head injury.
Officers immediately began rendering aid and the victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital. The victim is in stable condition.
Through further investigation it was revealed Lassain-Gatlin was involved in the aggravated assault.
