Entergy restoration update for Sunday, Oct. 11

As of 3:30pm, Entergy Texas has 50,204 customers currently without power, which is down from 108,891 at the peak of the storm.  The remaining outages are primarily concentrated in the Beaumont, Orange, and Port Arthur areas. Entergy Texas has restored power to approximately 58,000 customers.

Hurricane Delta created widespread damage and outages and has moved out of our area.  As of 8:30am Entergy Texas has 104,628 customers currently without power down from 108,891 at the peak of the storm.

Westbound hurricane traffic runs smoothly

Westbound traffic on I-10 in Beaumont was running smoothly 9 a.m., as Gulf Coast residents seek shelter from Hurricane Delta's path.  Eastbound traffic was nearly nonexistent at the same time Friday morning. Northbound traffic on Hwy 287 toward Lumberton was also flowing freely.

BISD closes as Delta looms

Hurricane Delta is predicted to impact the Beaumont area with high winds and potential flooding beginning Friday, Oct. 9. Out of an abundance of caution for our students, parents and staff Beaumont ISD will switch to virtual learning for all students on Oct. 9, according to a news release.

Health department urges breast cancer screenings

In observance of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission is encouraging women to get screened for breast cancer. Eligible women can receive free screenings through HHSC’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Services program.
