The National Hurricane Center has issued a Hurricane Watch for the northern Gulf coast from High Island eastward to Grand Isle, Louisiana. Delta is moving northwestward or 305/15 kt.

The City of Beaumont reported three new COVID-19 deaths along with 23 new positive tests for Oct. 6. The state of Texas numbers for Oct. 6 were 3,872 new positives tests and 78 deaths.

From the National Hurricane Center, 10 a.m. update Tuesday, Oct. 6. Satellite imagery and recent NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft data show that Delta is a very symmetric and compact hurricane.

Body found in Port Arthur water

Around 3 p.m. Oct. 2, Port Arthur police responded to a report of a possible body in the water around the 2800 block of MLK Drive, according to a news release. Officers arrived and found a deceased subject who has yet to be identified.

Beaumont man arrested for intoxicated manslaughter

Around 7 p.m. Oct. 3, Beaumont police responded to Hwy 105 in reference to a major vehicle crash, according to a news release. BPD arrested Jonah Watts, 24, of Beaumont, Saturday after he allegedly drove the wrong way down the highway as he injured one and killed another.
