The Beaumont Police Department has asked for the community's help locating a missing three-year-old child reported to be taken by his father.

Kasai Baines, 3, was reportedly taken by his father, Damaarkus Baines. Damaarkus left on foot from the 1400 block of Washington Village Parkway on Nov. 2, and they haven't been seen or heard from since. The elder Baines has a history of drug use and mental illness, according to BPD.

Detectives fear Kasai's life may be in danger. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Kasai or Damaarkus are asked to call BPD at (409) 832-1234. BPD asks that residents immediately call 911 if they see Damaarkus or Kasai.

"The mother left the child in the care of his father," a BPD official wrote. "He was not kidnapped, and there is no evidence he has been harmed. He is missing. There are requirements for Amber Alerts. It is not determined by our agency. He is a custodial parent due to the child custody agreement."
