Early voting begins on Monday, Oct 19, and continues through Friday, Oct 30. In Jefferson County you are allowed to voter and any of the early voting locations regardless of where you live in the county.

A Jasper man is hospitalized following a one-vehicle wreck.

Vehicle flips in Evadale

Traffic slowed Friday morning, Oct 16, following a wreck of FM 105 in Jasper County. One of the vehicles flipped over in front of Evadale High School. It appears from the photo, from Constable Chad Ainsworth's Facebook page, fog may have been a contributing factor.

LSCPA announces record Fall enrollment

Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) has reported reaching another enrollment milestone, welcoming a record 5,683 students for Fall 2026, a 14% increase from Fall 2025.

Beaumont takes action proctecting burial grounds

Body found in burning home

Fire investigators in Orange are looking into the cause of a fatal fire. On Wednesday morning, Oct 14, firefighters were called to a home in the 4800 block of Oak Valley Drive in Orange. The fire department contacted the Orange Police Department informing them a body had been found inside the home.

Drug arrest in Jasper Counthy

On Wednesday morning, October 14, Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard was driving north on Highway 96 in Kirbyville when he observed a man riding a bicycle wearing a large backpack with bolt cutters attached. Sheriff Havard pulled into a parking lot and waved the bicyclist over to him.

Police and SWAT training

Beaumont Police Department's SWAT and Hostage Negotiation teams conducted a specialized training exercise Tuesday, Oct 13, at Beaumont Municipal Airport on Keith Road. The planned exercise is designed to enhance team skills preparedness, and ability to respond effectively to critical incidents.

Mail-in ballots damaged

Romana Young, Chairperson of the Jefferson County Democratic Party, is looking for answers. Young is concerned after a 75-year-old woman came forward saying her mail-in ballot had gotten wet in the mail and was damaged as the ballot was stuck to its envelope.
