LSCPA announces record Fall enrollment

Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) has reported reaching another enrollment milestone, welcoming a record 5,683 students for Fall 2026, a 14% increase from Fall 2025. Since Fall 2022, LSCPA enrollment has increased by nearly 3,000 students, or 111%.

“This growth is about much more than enrollment,” said LSCPA President Dr. John Hayek. “It means more students earning degrees and credentials, more graduates entering the workforce and more opportunities for families throughout Southeast Texas.

“We are helping prepare the skilled workforce our current employers need while also helping our region attract new businesses and jobs.”

One of the most significant areas of growth is LSCPA’s dual credit program, which has seen a 272% increase since Fall 2022, when dual credit enrollment was 1,103 students, according to the college. Through dual credit, high school students can begin earning college credit and, in many cases, work toward certificates and credentials before they graduate from high school. These opportunities can save students and families both time and money while giving students an early start on college and career preparation.

LSCPA’s dual credit partnerships include Bob Hope School, Nederland High School, Port Neches-Groves High School, Memorial High School, Woodrow Wilson Early College High School, Livingston High School, and East Chambers High School.

“We have outstanding faculty and staff, students who are working hard to build better futures for themselves and their families, and tremendous support from our education, business and industry partners,” Hayek said. “Those partnerships help us make sure our programs are preparing students for real opportunities and good jobs when they graduate.”
