Shot fired at deputy, no injuries

An Orange County Sheriff’s deputy responding to a burglary in progress was uninjured after a homeowner fired a shot at the door on Jan. 4, reported Sheriff Jimmy Lane Mooney.

He reported the deputy responded to a call on South Greenwood, off Highway 105 in Orangefield. The deputy was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital as a precaution.

Orangefield ISD was placed in lockdown but was lifted by 10:30 a.m.
