A registered sex offender has been convicted of Online Solicitation of a minor for Sexual Conduct and Possession of Child Pornography. The jury in Judge John Stevens courtroom at the Jefferson County Courthouse returned with the verdict against 47-year-old Jimmy King Jr. Friday morning. (Sept 25.)
King served time following a 2010 conviction of attempted sexual assault of a child . The victim was a 15-year old girl in Travis County. Following his prison sentence, King was placed on the state's Sex Offender Registry. In 2023, King was indicted by a Jefferson County grand on two counts of sexual performance of a child, sexual assault of a child, failure to comply with sex offender registry, possession of child pornography and online solicitation of a minor.
In May of 2023, Beaumont police began an investigation of a report of suspicious activity between a registered sex offender and a 15-year-old girl.
King contacted the teenage girl online. He met the girl her home outside of Beaumont and brought her back to his home where he sexually assaulted her. The punishment phase is under way.
Investigators told us that King had contacted a 15-year-old girl through social media and began stalking/grooming her. He eventually picked her up from her residence outside of Beaumont and transported her back to his home where he sexually assaulted her, said police.
