UPDATE: Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard confirmed Jan. 28 that the two suspects who were recently arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a DeRidder woman had been released from jail after making arraignments to post bail.
According Havard Tevin Sells, 27 of Jasper was released after $750,000 was posted by Robinson Bail Bonds of Jasper and Dionte Johnson, 29 of Newton was released after $750,000 was posted by American Bonding Company of Newton.
Newton Police Chief Will Jackson reported two male suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a DeRidder woman, reported KJAS.com.
Jan. 22, Dionte Rechard Johnson, 29, of Newton, who is accused of pulling the trigger resulting in the death of Asia Marie Scott, 22. Johnson was arrested about 1 p.m. as he walked into the Newton County Courthouse to see his parole officer.
Scott, a single mother, died Jan. 11 after being shot at a hangout known as "The Hill" on the north side of Newton. Jackson said an argument started which escalated into shots being fired and four people were shot.
Scott was taken by private vehicle to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital where she later died.
Jackson reported Johnson and two other men, who were injured in the shooting, were treated and later released from area hospitals.
Jan. 26, Jackson reported Tavin Trevauon Sells, 27, of Jasper, was arrested in the murder. He and Johnson's bond was set at $750,000 each by Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Mike Greer.
