Two-on-one assault results in felony arrest

According to Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard, two women were arrested Feb. 15 following an alleged burglary and assault at a residence in Jasper County.

Deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 600 block of County Road 828, also known as Sunset Drive, in Jasper County in reference to a reported burglary of a habitation, the sheriff detailed.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim, who reported that two women — identified as Emily Cowart, 21, of Vidor, and Casey Guerrero, 38, of Groves – allegedly broke into her home and assaulted her.

The victim told deputies the incident stemmed from an argument earlier in the evening. According to the report, the suspects allegedly entered the residence through a window, then forcefully kicked open the victim’s bedroom door before attacking her.

Both suspects were still at the scene when deputies arrived, the sheriff reported, due to the alleged assailants’ vehicle became stuck in the mud. Cowart and Guerrero were taken into custody and charged with burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony.

Both were transported to and booked into the Jasper County Jail.
