The Southeast Texas Violent Crime Task Force conducted “proactive operations” in Port Arthur on May 20, with the goal of increasing law enforcement presence through saturation patrols and proactive traffic enforcement in targeted areas, the agency reported.
During the operation, deputies and officers reportedly conducted 32 traffic stops which resulted in
• 11 felony arrests
• 6 felony arrests for possession of controlled substances (methamphetamine)
• 1 felony arrest for unlawful carrying of a weapon while committing a felony
• 4 additional felony warrant arrests
• 1 illegally possessed handgun removed from the streets
Agencies involved in the Task Force operation included the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Port Arthur PD, Beaumont PD, and Nederland PD.
