Task force operation nets 28 arrests

The Southeast Texas Violent Crime Task Force conducted a coordinated enforcement operation June 2-6 in areas throughout Southeast Texas identified as having elevated criminal activity, according to the Beaumont Police Department (BPD).

During the five-day operation, proactive enforcement efforts resulted in 286 traffic stops, 132 citations, 28 arrests (including 22 felony arrests), 11 warrants served and 10 firearms recovered, including one reported stolen. Investigators also seized quantities of suspected marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine and oxycodone.

Also among the operation’s outcomes was the apprehension of two homicide suspects located and arrested outside Beaumont.

June 9, BPD’s Special Assignment Unit was contacted by the Houston Police Department in reference to locating Jakorian Mouton, 19, who had a warrant for capital murder. Officers located Mouton in the 3000 block of W. Crockett where he was taken into custody.
