A Beaumont man is being held on a $1 million bond after allegedly shooting his girlfriend in the head. The victim later died at a local hospital.
June 6, Brandon Chretien, 44, of Beaumont, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, a first-degree felony, according to the Beaumont Police Department.
At 2:40 a.m., officers responded to the 8200 block of Heartfield Lane regarding a shooting victim.
Arriving officers found a woman, identified as Tammy Dawson, 24, suffering from a traumatic brain injury. Dawson was transported to a local hospital, where she died June 8. Police said charges are expected to be upgraded.
According to police, the preliminary investigation revealed the victim and suspect were involved in a dating relationship.
