Police chase end in Vidor, driver arrested

A police chase through three counties ended with the arrest of an Orange man March 20. Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard reported that, before 8 p.m., the Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) was notified of a police pursuit from Jasper County and entering his county by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on FM 363. During the pursuit, the suspect, driving a 2014 Toyota passenger car, turned southbound onto State Highway 87 from Bleakwood and to avoid capture by law enforcement.

The pursuit ended up on Interstate 10 westbound and the suspect continued to evade numerous law enforcement agencies in Orange County until a DPS trooper utilized a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver on the Toyota in Vidor. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The driver, Kane Ramirez, 27, was transported to the Orange County Jail where he was charged with evading arrest with a vehicle and DWI. Bond on Ramirez was set at $155,000 and he remains in jail.
