March 11, an Orange County grand jury returned an indictment for murder against Trennis Termaine Chargois Jr., 32, who was taken into custody the following day, Sgt. Isaac T. Henry III, of the Orange Police Department, reported. Bond was set at $1 million.
Chargois is accused in the shooting death of John Wolford Flanagan, 33.
Oct. 7, 2021, at 11:03 p.m., officers were called to the James Zay Apartment Complex, 610 Burton Ave., in reference to a shooting. Flanagan was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, where he later died.
Since the murder, detectives continued to investigate the case and, through ongoing efforts and review of evidence, the case was presented to a grand jury, Henry said.
