A former law enforcement officer currently serving prison time for multiple child sex crimes pleaded guilty in another such case on March 25, reported KJAS.com.

Tyler County District Attorney Lucas Babin reported John Dees, 47, pleaded guilty to a charge of Indecency with a child by exposure.

Babin said a plea deal was worked out between the prosecution and defense, and Dees received a 5-year prison sentence to run concurrent with his prison sentence from previous child sex crime convictions in Jasper and Orange counties. He said the victim was the same in both the Tyler County and Orange County case.

According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Dees is being held in the Ellis Prison Unit in Huntsville. His sentences run until March 2029. His first eligibility for parole will be in March 2026.

From his early 20s until about a decade ago, Dees worked at the Jasper Police Department, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. His law enforcement career ended in 2011 when the first of several child sex cases surfaced.
