A 5-year-old child suffered a gunshot wound in a shooting June 11.
According to the Beaumont Police Department, at 2:46 p.m., officers responded to 4050 Maida Rd. in reference to a victim of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located the child inside of the residence with a gunshot wound. Officers then provided medical treatment until EMS personnel arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was listed as in stable condition. The victim was later transported to Houston for further medical treatment.
Preliminary investigation indicated the shooting may have been accidental.
