PA assailant 'deforms' girlfriend's face

After a 30-year-old Port Arthur man allegedly assaulted his girlfriend until her face was “deformed” from swelling and then kidnapped her after a June argument, a Jefferson County Grand Jury indicted the accused for aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony. At about 6:18 p.m.

Murder-for-hire plotter pleads guilty

A Port Arthur-dwelling Honduran national pleaded guilty to a murder-for-hire plot aimed at eliminating his mother-in-law and brother-in-law back in Honduras, according to an announcement released Jan. 19 from the Eastern District of Texas U.S. Attorney’s office.

Port Arthur man shot in foot

Port Arthur Police responded Sunday to a call in reference to a man who was shot in the foot under Taylor’s Bayou Bridge.  The victim reported that he was sitting in his vehicle when another vehicle drove toward him, according to a news release.

Man fires shots at driver in PA

Port Arthur police responded to reports of shots fired in the 800 block of Charleston Avenue around 10 a.m. Feb. 2, according to a news release. Officers found a female victim with minor injuries.

PA game room attendants arrested

An undercover operation run by Port Arthur PD detectives at two game rooms resulted in two arrests Feb. 6, according to a news release. An undercover officer was sent to the Lucky Game Room on 9th Avenue and Shanghai Game Room on Gulfway Drive to play 8-Liner Gaming Machines.

PA SWAT team nabs cocaine peddler

A 26-year-old Port Arthur resident was found converting powder cocaine into crack when a PA SWAT team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1600 block of 19th street just after 1 p.m. Jan. 31, according to a news release.

PAPD data shows a drop in several crime areas

Port Arthur experienced a dramatic decline in several major crime categories from 2018 to 2019, according to data released by the Port Arthur Police Department. The release shows a drop in the rates of murder, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, theft and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
