17-year old charged in shooting

A 17-year-old has been charged in connection with a shooting that left one person injured at a Beaumont apartment complex earlier this month.

Beaumont police responded around 2:33 p.m. on July 8 to Autumn Oaks Apartment Complex in the 3100 block of Eastex Freeway after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to a local hospital and was later reported to be in stable condition.

According to the preliminary investigation, the shooting happened after a verbal altercation escalated into gunfire. Following the investigation, detectives identified 17-year-old Jamorelyne Dearmon as the suspect and obtained a felony arrest warrant.
