Two teens arrested in fatal shooting

The Beaumont Police Department (BPD) arrested a teen suspect and a 15-year-old juvenile in connection with a shooting that killed a woman and critically injured another person. Both victims, police report, were “innocent bystanders.”

At 2:21 p.m. June 1, officers responded to 2250 W. Virginia St. in reference to shots fired. While en route, dispatch advised there were two gunshot victims being driven to a local hospital in a private vehicle.

A preliminary investigation revealed a disturbance between two individuals escalated, and both began firing shots at each other across the apartment complex parking lot. The victims were caught in the crossfire while inside vehicles in an parking lot. Both victims were subsequently transported to a Houston-area hospital. BPD reported that, on June 2, shooting victim Nastazia Corbin, 25, died from her injuries.

While detectives were still on the scene, one of the suspected shooters returned to the complex and was taken into custody, BPD advised. Drevion Wilson, 18, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault; the charge is expected to be upgraded to murder. The juvenile was arrested June 2.
