JCSO makes drug bust during stop

March 20, at about 11:30 p.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Task Force, while conducting an investigation on a subject who was supplying a large amount of various narcotics to the Southeast Texas area, stopped the subject on a speeding violation in the 250000 block of Highway 73.

Port Arthur to close city facilities

Effective Monday, March 23, at 3 p.m., the city of Port Arthur will restrict public access to the city hall, annex and all city facilities.

TxDOT hearing postponed

Port Arthur Mayor Thurman Bartie announced the city’s first positive test of coronavirus. The person is a healthcare worker and has self-quarantined. The positive test marks the third case for Jefferson County.
