Day 3: Southeast Texas counties release daily COVID-19 update

The following information from the Southeast Texas Regional Emergency Operations Center summarizes activities and developments related to COVID-19 in Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Newton, Orange, and Tyler counties:

Positive for COVID-19 – 13 total

· Beaumont – 8

· Lumberton – 2

· Silsbee – 2

· Orange – 1

Confirmed COVID-19 Fatalities – 1

· Hardin County – 1

Total calls received by Call Center – 1,014

· 315 have been referred for testing (since call center opened on 3/20)

· 40 scheduled for testing at drive-through site today

Jefferson County issued an Addendum 2 to Judge Jeff Branick’s Sixth Amended Emergency Order effective today instructing hospitals, physicians, health care providers, public health authorities, or other individual or entities to immediately contact the Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management and report any SUSPECTED or POSITIVE cases of COVID-19 by email to EOC@Co.Jefferson.TX.US.  Failure to comply with the reporting requirements shall be punishable by up to a $1,000 fine or up to 180 days in jail.
