Beaumont area up to 68 COVID cases

Beaumont Mayor Becky Ames released statistics showing there were an additional seven positive cases of coronavirus in the Beaumont jurisdiction, bringing the total in the Beaumont, China, Cheek, Nome, Fannett and Hamshire areas up to 68. The new COVID diagnoses are city of Beaumont residents.

Beaumont Animal Care switches up operating hours

In order to continue serving the public while keeping staff healthy and safe, Beaumont Animal Care will be scheduling appointments for adoptions, fosters, and reclaims only during the hours of 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

DOL: Nearly 17 million Americans file for unemployment in three weeks

According to a weekly news release from the U.S. Department of Labor, about 16.8 million Americans have filed initial unemployment claims. That’s roughly the population of the nation’s four largest cities: New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston.  Around 6.

The Texas Justice Court Training Center is advising Justices of the Peace to report “suspected coronavirus death” on death certificates when the patient was suspected to have the virus before death.

In the daily update for the Beaumont Public Health jurisdiction, Beaumont Mayor Becky Ames said there are now 61 confirmed cases in the Beaumont area.  Within the city of Beaumont, there were 57 total cases, two in China, one in Fannett and one in Nome.
