Beaumont woman shot after firing shot to break up fight

Around 4:30 a.m. April 19, BPD officers responded to a shooting in the 900 block of West Florida Avenue, where a 41-year-old woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to a news release.

The victim, identified as Monica Landrio, was taken to a local hospital by EMS before being pronounced dead. Investigation revealed a fight occurred at the Florida Park Apartments involving a large crowd of juveniles. Witnesses advised the victim fired a round in an attempt to break up the fight. A 15-year-old male then fired several rounds and struct the 41-year-old woman. 

The suspect was later arrested and transported to Juvenile Detention and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
