Fleeting job opportunity for judge’s office

Applications are due no later than 4:30 p.m. Jan. 20 to fill the Senior Court Clerk position open in the new judicial office of incoming Jefferson County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Joseph L. Guillory II.

Job functions include performance of clerical duties in support of the office of the Justice of the Peace and providing information and assistance to the public. Starting salary is $17 per hour.

The position opening was announced by the county’s office of Human Resources on Jan. 17.

“Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position,” the job posting recites, as well as noted abilities to take phone calls, schedule weddings, work with law enforcement agencies, and prepare paperwork for civil and criminal court cases, among other tasks. The qualified candidate will possess a high school diploma, or equivalent, and preferably have experience in using office equipment and general computer software; multi-lingual preferred.
