Search warrant nabs felon

A search warrant executed by the Beaumont Police Department (BPD) Narcotics investigators, assisted by several other division and agencies, resulted in the arrest of a convicted felon on Jan. 27.

According to a statement from BPD, the search warrant was obtained after a lengthy investigation concerning narcotics distribution from a residence in the 700 block of East Lucas Avenue.

BPD SWAT executed the search warrant at 6 a.m. and the search of the residence yielded more than 50 grams of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, more than $4,900 in currency, and two handguns (one of which was reported stolen).

Adrian Dwayne Elam, 35, of Beaumont, was arrested and transported to Jefferson County Correctional Facility. He was booked in for possession of a controlled substance.

Elam, a convicted felon, was also charged with felon in possession of a firearm.
