July 10, at 1:25 p.m., Beaumont Police Department’s Special Assignment Unit, Narcotics Unit and the Southeast Texas Violent Crime Task Force were conducting an operation when they reportedly attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle near MLK and Florida Avenue. The driver, 30-year-old Rakeem Allen, allegedly fled from officers before losing control of the vehicle in the 800 block of Alma, where he was quickly taken into custody.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of suspected illegal narcotics, including marijuana, methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills, cocaine, hydrocodone, oxycodone, fentanyl, Adderall, alprazolam, promethazine and THC wax. Officers also recovered a handgun and multiple AR-15 rifle magazines from inside the vehicle.
During the investigation, officers determined Allen is a convicted felon. He was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and booked on numerous charges, including felony evading arrest, nine counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a dangerous drug and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
