Federico Rodriguez Jr, 22, of Beaumont was indicted Feb. 14 by a Jefferson County grand jury on six felony charges arising from a police pursuit and a significant discovery of narcotics on Aug. 22, 2023.

According to the probable cause affidavit for Rodriguez’s arrest, Beaumont Police Department (BPD) officers were dispatched to North Street in reference to shots fired to find a white Chevrolet pickup driven by Rodriguez fleeing the scene and refusing to stop for police. Fleeing from officers, Rodriguez arrived in the area of 7th and Calder Avenue, where he continued to drive recklessly, disregarded a red light and collided with another vehicle, the indictment alleged.

The aftermath of the collision yielded a startling revelation as, “Due to this crash, a quantity of assorted narcotics within Rodriguez’s truck became scattered about the roadway, covering nearly a city block,” BPD disclosed, followed by a list of the illicit cache, including: 18 lbs. of marijuana, 2 grams of Percocet, 39 grams of Oxycodone, 11 grams of Adderall, 5.3 ounces of synthetic marijuana, 1 bottle of promethazine, 29 grams of cocaine, 6803 grams of psychedelic mushroom products, 20,677 grams of THC products (comprising vapes and gummies). Also found were three handguns, a shotgun, and a sum of $8,000 in cash.

Rodriguez was arrested and released on $55,000 bond the next day.
