BISD to host fair preparing students for post high school life

Beaumont ISD is hosting a college, career and military readiness fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at West Brook High School.  The fair will include information from colleges, area businesses, military enlistment opportunities and other workforce development and employment opportunities.

A night of premeditated promiscuity went drastically askew for a 17-year-old in Beaumont Friday, Jan. 17, as his plans to meet an escort ended with the teen being tied up and tortured for hours by four suspects in a hotel on Interstate 10.

Tyrrell Historic Library reopened

Beaumont’s century-old Tyrrell Historic Library reopened its doors to the public last week, after Hurricane Harvey and Tropical Storm Imelda damaged the building. The library sustained water damage in Harvey, leading to an extensive, three-year renovation endeavor that just met its conclusion.

Arrest made in home invasion shooting

BPD detectives arrested a 30-year-old Beaumont man  Jan. 10, in connection to an earlier robbery where a group of masked men entered a home and shot a father in front of his two kids. The gunshot wound left the homeowner paralized, according to police.

I-10 traffic stop yields 11 lbs of suspected meth

A traffic stop Wednesday, Jan. 8, on I-10 in Beaumont resulted in the arrest of a man who was carrying $140,000 worth of suspected crystal meth, according to a news release.

Masked man shoots Beaumont dad in front of kids

Just before noon on Sunday, Jan. 5, BPD officers responded to the 800 block of Pipkin Street in reference to an aggravated assault, according to a news release. Upon arrival, officers located a 30-year-old Beaumont man suffering from gunshot wounds in a bedroom.
