A Jefferson County grand jury has indicted a Bridge City woman for abandoning and endangering a child, On June 6, 2026, a 4-year-old boy was found walking around in the parking lot of the Sure Stay Plus motel in the 2100 block of 11th. The handicapped, non-verbal, child was wearing a diaper and T-shirt. It was learned the child left through an open door of room #122 at the motel. A 1-year old was found sleeping in the room without adult supervision. Officers located suspected marijuana in the room. 24-year-old Shyla Griffin, who has a Bridge City address, walked in the room and was arrested. The motel is in a high crime area and adjacent to a busy road.
