The DPS is investigating a fatal wreck that occurred in Jefferson County. DPS Sgt. Shana Clark reports at approximately 6:20 am on Friday, Oct 23, a truck-trailer semi-trailer was traveling west on I-10 near FM 365 and struck the rear of a box truck that was disabled in the outside lane.
Three occupants of the box truck 43-year old Maynor Leonel Mejia of Honduras the driver of the truck, and passenger 33-year-old Luis Meza-Ramos were transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Another passenger, a 38-year-old woman from Honduras died in the carsh.
The driver of the Semi-truck, 66-year-old Vebi Vehapi, of Missouri, was not hurt.
