April 22, the Orange Police Department (OPD) reported, a traffic stop led to a man being arrested on multiple charges, including drug violations.
At 1:13 p.m., investigators allegedly observed a Mazda SUV commit a traffic violation at the intersection of 10th Street and Cordrey Avenue; a second violation was noted near State Highway 87 and Allie Payne Road, Sgt. Isaac T. Henry III reported.
After the SUV was stopped, David Feathers, 32, of Orange, failed to comply with officers and fled. He was apprehended after a short pursuit in the 6200 block of Armitage Road, then exited a police vehicle and fled on foot. He was taken into custody a short distance away without further incident.
According to Henry, investigators obtained a search warrant for Feathers’ residence prior to the traffic stop. The residence, located within 1,000 feet of a school, yielded fentanyl pills, cocaine and three firearms, one of which was reported stolen.
Feathers was charged with evading arrest with a vehicle (third-degree felony), evading arrest on foot (state jail felony), possession of a controlled substance (4–200 grams) within 1,000 feet of a school (first-degree felony), and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon (third-degree felony).
The investigation is ongoing. No further information was available at press time.
