‘Date rape’ drug seized in Orange Co.

March 24, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office initiated a narcotics investigation after receiving information of illegal narcotics being sold from a residence on Stuart Drive in Orange, according to Orange County Sheriff Bobby Smith.

Deputies serving a search warrant of the residence reportedly uncovered 5.2 oz of suspected methamphetamines, 48 oz. of suspected Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB), commonly known as the “date rape drug,” 1 gram of suspected fentanyl, and two handguns.  Deputies also reported discovering several items of suspected drug paraphernalia.

Smith reported that one suspect confessed to possession and distribution of illegal narcotics from the residence and was placed under arrest and transported to the Orange County Jail.

OCSO reported that Linda Gail Vines, 68, admitted to possessing and distributing narcotics from the residence. Vines was charged with felony offenses, including possession of a controlled substance greater than 400 grams. Bond was set at $400,000.

“I want to recognize and thank our deputies for the diligence and hard work displayed with this investigation,” Smith said. “They received information and followed through to remove dangerous drugs from our community and arrest a suspected drug dealer.”
