Haunted House in Rebel territory

The Evadale VFD, 964 FM 105, is sponsoring its annual Haunted House on Oct. 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28, 29 and 31 at the fire station. Entry opens at 7 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Evadale VFD scholarship program. Admission is $10.

Jefferson Co. Tax Assessor-Collector Allison Getz dies

Longtime Jefferson County Tax Assessor-Collector Allison Nathan Getz, 63, died on Oct. 10. Getz was elected tax assessor-collector and voter registrar in 2014 after a 20-year career as a senior financial advisor with Merrill Lynch.
