County notes added COVID deaths

Aug. 31, the Port Arthur and Jefferson County health departments reported two additional COVID-19 related deaths – one, a Port Arthur white male resident between the ages of 80 and 85, the other a white male Nederland resident between the ages of 60 and 65.

Temporary housing/distribution pods pop up across SETX

Temporary housing and aid distribution pods were delivered to Beaumont and Orange Monday in the wake of Hurricane Laura. Seven temporary housing pods from RedGuard Specialist Services could be seen traveling to The Event Centre parking lot Monday afternoon.

BPD investigates hurricane looting

Beaumont detectives are reviewing nearly 50 reports of burglaries occurring at commercial and residential properties during the city's mandatory evacuation. Since last Aug. 24, BPD has received close to 50 commercial & residential burglary reports, according to police.

PODS, supplies for Orange County begins Monday

Residents of Orange County will be able to pick up supplies such as water, ice and MRE (meals ready to eat) beginning Monday, Aug. 31 through Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The drive-thru POD (Point of Distribution) will be at four locations: Orange: Orange Boat Ramp, 409 Pier Rd.

Beaumont man dies from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning

Friday, Aug. 28, at 3:51pm, Beaumont Police Officers responded to the 200 block of  N 7th St. in reference a deceased person.  Alphonso Devon Williams, a 61-year-old Beaumont man, was found deceased inside the locked upstairs garage apartment by the maintenance man and family.

Orange Co. has lifted mandatory evacuation order

Orange County Judge John Gothia is lifting the Mandatory Evacuation Order as of 5 pm this evening, Aug. 28, 2020 for all of Orange County. Citizens that come back to the county need to be self-sufficient due to the major power outages within the county.
